EVERSHEDS LICENCED IN ABU DHABI
EVERSHEDS LICENCED IN ABU DHABI
International law firm Eversheds LLP announced that it has been awarded a licence to operate in Abu Dhabi; a move that will further strengthen the firm"s Middle East practice.
The licence is a significant milestone for the firm as it expands its Middle East practice, which already works with an impressive client list including HSBC, Boeing and the National Bank of Abu Dhabi. The Emirate is currently engaged in a major re-gearing of its economy to diversify out of oil and has become a major international gateway into India.
Dr. Matthias Heisse, Managing Partner of Heisse Kursawe Eversheds comments:
"We are thrilled to get the
licence. Abu Dhabi is an Emirate that is looking
to diversify and grow rapidly and both our Middle East and India Business
practices will benefit greatly from this news. Abu
Dhabi"s burgeoning economy has a strong focus on
financial services, real estate and telecoms and in particular the Emirate aims
to be a global leader in sustainable development and the renewable energy
market. These are all sectors where Eversheds has a very strong track record
and a wealth of insight to bring to the diversification programme. Our law firm is very proud to be part of such a sucessful and innovative network and we are highly supporting all further developments."
Under the terms of the licence
agreement, Eversheds has committed to send out UK nationals in order to establish
the wholly owned office. These include, Chris Jobson, previously managing
partner for Eversheds in Qatar
who will now become Eversheds" managing partner for the Middle East. Jobson
will be joined by a further two Eversheds" partners, two associates and one
solicitor.
In the last twelve months, Eversheds International opened offices in South Africa, Switzerland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Prague and Bratislava. Added to this, Eversheds will soon be moving into state-of-the-art worldwide headquarters in the City of London at One Wood Street.
Eversheds Chairman, Alan Jenkins, concludes:
"2007/2008 has seen a phenomenal growth of Eversheds International and 2008/2009 looks even more promising. We are still committed to investing and laying the foundations for continual growth, and ensuring we work closely with our global clients. We will continue to invest in client facing innovative systems, such as our unique Global Account Management service to ensure their needs are met."
